  • The Mormons are getting ready to move from Salt Lake. They have purchased Charles’s Island in the Galapagos with the view of establishing themselves there as an independent nation. This move will benefit the United States but may prove detrimental to South American nations who invite the Mormons to be their neighbors. These “weak and tottering republics . . . will assuredly fall an easy prey to the warlike and energetic followers of the ‘twelve apostles.’”
