  • The Mormons are contending among themselves as well as with the Gentiles. Some have left the Church and have fled to Carson Valley. Any who attempt to escape are pursued by Brigham Young’s “destroying angels.” Many desire to leave Utah but are afraid. Young has declared that he will be the president of the United States within ten years.
