The St. Louis Republican reports that some of the Mormons, including the Twelve, the High Council, and other principal leaders have crossed the river from Nauvoo and are now encamped at Sugar Creek, Iowa, on their way to California. This group will apparently travel ahead of the rest and will stop to build a village and plant crops every five hundred miles for those who come behind. The Twelve apparently left at night to avoid conflicts and left A. Babbitt, Fulmer, and Haywood as agents for their property. Major Warren has issued a proclamation to warn against further agitation of the Mormons, encouraging everyone under threat of force to honor the compromise between the Mormons and the anti-Mormons.
