  • About 600 men will march to Nauvoo against the Mormons. Reports on the state of the Mormons in Nauvoo vary: some say that the Mormons are prepared to make a solid resistance, while others suggest that the Mormons cannot possibly raise enough men to fight effectively and that the Mormons are simply bragging about their strength. There are also rumors that a company of Mormon women are drilling in Nauvoo to be prepared to defend the city. Many of the citizens of Nauvoo are asking the governor to protect them from the Mormons. Report from an article in the St. Louis Republican.
