  • A group of about one thousand people have formed a settlement thirty miles north of Great Salt Lake, under the leadership of Mr. Morris, who claims to be the “Prophet Moses reappeared on earth.” Morris’s followers apparently refuse to labor to support themselves, and members who wish to leave are not allowed to do so. An order for the arrest of Morris and leaders of the gang has led to fighting between the group and infantry sent by Governor Fuller. Morris, along with several others, has been killed.
