  • An editor at the Toledo Blade reports that Brigham Young has 16 wives and 48 children. The Bedrock Democrat, however, believes that this report understates the matter and that Young has many more wives, concubines, and children. The article suggests that those who are curious about Brigham Young’s family affairs should question “the young sprig at West Point,” who can “furnish the history of his father’s family.”
