  • A report about Mormons immigrating to Salt Lake City on various ships. The Grand Tower holds 225 Danes and the John Simonds 240 English and Welsh; all these Mormons are bound for Utah. Ships are on their way from Europe carrying more Mormon converts. Some immigrants professed to Mormonism only to gain a reduced fare for the passage, and they have no intention of going to Salt Lake City. From the St. Louis News and the St. Louis Republican.
