  • All who are under indictment for polygamy are looked upon as martyrs by the Mormons. Attorney General Hord believes that the best way to compel the Mormons to stop practicing polygamy is through money—he proposes to enact a law allowing women divorced from a polygamous marriage to demand money from their ex-husbands and suggests sending women to Utah to marry Mormon men, divorce them, and demand money.
