  • Deseret will leave questions of the Wilmot Proviso and slavery to follow their natural course according to time, circumstance, and common law. The article describes the anniversary of the pioneer arrival in Utah. The Mormons celebrated with a splendid dinner spread on two tables that stretched a mile and a half long and seated 7,000 people. The ceremony also included religious services, speeches, toasts, and a parade of 24 young men and 24 young women.
