  • A passage defending polygamy is taken from the Frontier Guardian, as quoted by the St. Louis Times on 23 January. The unidentified writer of the quoted paragraph asserts that Mormons follow the honorable tradition of David and Solomon and that polygamy is not a valid reason to reject Mormonism. This argument is rejected because polygamist Mormons put the “future welfare and honor of the nation” at peril.
