Extract of a letter from Carrollton, Missouri, defending the Missourians in their treatment of the Mormons. Accusations made against the Missourians by Mr. Green in Cincinnati and previously printed in the paper are slander; “Mormons have robbed and swindled the Missourians out of many thousands of dollars, and burned a great many dwelling houses,” and drove a woman out of her home one hour after giving birth, causing her death. “There was a battle . . . at a blacksmith shop; but the Mormons were the transgressors, though they got the worst of the fight.” With the “damnable cause” of the Mormons, we should “be surprised to think that there was one of them left alive.”
