  • A report explains that the Anti-Mormons have rejected their compromise with the Mormons in Nauvoo. General Singleton has withdrawn from his position in consequence and Col. Brockman has been elected to the command. Negotiations are in progress, but each party wants his own terms of agreement and each considers the other party a mob. The “multiplicity of [Governor Ford’s] blunders” are rehearsed, as well as the murder of a Mormon which the editor “had the pleasure of witnessing.” Reprint of an article from the Morning Courier (16 Sep 1846).
