  • A letter from someone in Missouri has claimed that a group of Mormons led by Joseph Smith has recently attempted to cross the river into Jackson County but has been fought by citizens of the area. In the battle, Joseph Smith’s leg was wounded and later amputated. Smith died three days after the amputation. From the Chardon Spectator.
