Records briefly the discussion by members at Rockingham on the proper future of these heavy lands and gives some details of the opresent use of 245T-diesel mixtures and Paraquat for the control of vegetation and grasses there. At Hazelborough the meeting was concerned with the silviculture of oak and oak-Norway spruce mixtures. Some description is given of an interesting day spent at Stewart & Lloyd's open-cast mining and restoration work with notes on costs and quality of plantations made on restored ground. The paper comments on some older woods made on mine workings at Boughton and on the woods, including some remarkable Populus robusta , at Elton and ends with an account of the discussion held by the Society on the last evening of the meeting.
