  • The Mormons have organized an army, led by Daniel H. Wells, to resist the troops. A group of Mormons led by Porter Rockwell have harassed the army. Two Mormon prisoners with orders to slow the progress of the army have been taken by Colonel Alexander. Colonel Smith has also taken a prisoner. In a letter to Alexander, Brigham Young has protested against the approach of the troops.
