The furniture industry in the European Union, Part I
Western Europe is a very dynamic area for the furniture sector. It accounts for about a third of world furniture production, with Italy and Germany leading the field. Italy is Europe's top producer of furniture and the third largest furniture consumer behind Germany and the United Kingdom. Although in recent years Italian exports to other European countries have been decreasing, Italy still has the largest quota of total furniture exports. Germany which produces furniture both for the domestic and export markets, is showing growth. The main reason for this was the positive trend of furniture exports. Western Europe is a huge market with an overall furniture consumption of about Euro 82 million, of which about half is satisfied by imports. The largest increases in imports were recorded in the United Kingdom and Spain. The report offers: an overview of this area; updated statistics on the local market and its potential; updated statistics on the production system; detailed import export tables by country and by product; about 250 detailed profiles of the leading furniture manufacturers and over 350 mentioned companies. For each company mentioned in the report, an updated profile with contact details, size and product offer is provided. Additional information is included when available (brands, export activity, certifications...).
