This report presents the findings and recommendations of a government inquiry into the advertising and promotion of gambling services in sport. It includes also a review of the Broadcasting Services Amendment (Advertising for Sports Betting) Bill 2013, which was introduced by Greens Party Senator Richard DiNatale on the 15th May 2013. This is the fifth report in a series of inquiries into the growth of interactive and online gambling in Australia and the adequacy of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 to effectively deal with its social and economic impacts. Issues discussed in this report include the normalisation of gambling in a family friendly environment, the vulnerability of children to advertising, and the impact on the integrity of sport.
