This literature review explores the trends and impacts of life events and transitions within families, and how families experiencing such transitions can best be supported. Life events include forming a new relationship, parenthood, divorce, moving house, illness, starting school, and bereavement. This review examines the sorts of life events experienced by families, the ways families prepare and adjust, the impact of events on families who were already struggling, and service delivery models aimed at supporting families experiencing life events.
