Estimating net child care price elasticities of partnered women with pre-school children using a discrete structural labour supply-child care model [electronic resource] / Xiaodong Gong and Robert Breunig.
This paper investigates the relationship between child care price and women's labour supply. It presents a model for the joint household decision about working hours and how much child care is used. Using data from the Household Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey, the model is then used to provide estimates on the relationship between hours of child care and mothers' working time, as well as the impact of policies which affect household budget constraints.
