Summary
  • The Youth Connections Program helps young people who have left school - or who are thinking of leaving school - to continue with their education and ultimately gain a Year 12 certificate. A longitudinal study is currently in progress to investigate the subjective wellbeing of these young people participating in the program across Australia. This report presents findings from the second wave of data collection, for 7,779 young people, aged between 12 and 19, who completed the Personal Wellbeing Index at the start and end of the program in 2011. The report discusses the findings, with comparisons for age, gender, Indigenous status, refugee status, and personal and family risk factors, with comparisons also with 1,329 high-school students in Victoria.
