Subjects
Aboriginal Australians - Victoria - Clothing.; Sketches.; Melbourne (Vic.) - History - 1834-1851.
Summary
Includes Aboriginal people, wearing blankets and sitting around fire, small town of Melbourne in the distance. This drawing bears a notable resemblance to the lithograph by John Skinner Prout 'Melbourne from Collingwood 1847', published in 1847. The group of aboriginal people in the foreground is posed identically in each picture. Prout might have had access to Godfrey through their mutual friend John Cotton.
