A new Paid Parental Leave (PPL) scheme was introduced into Australia on the 1st January 2011, which provides up to 18 weeks of Parental Leave Pay (PLP), paid at the National Minimum Wage, following the birth or adoption of a child in eligible families. An evaluation of the scheme has been commissioned, which will assess its implementation, effectiveness, and outcomes. This report presents findings for phase 2 of the evaluation, which reviews the implementation of the scheme and the early impacts on parents and employers.
