Summary
In the early 1920s a writer, Richard Somers and his wife Harriet, flee the wreck of post-war Europe in search of a freer, more tolerant world in which to rebuild their marriage. In an Australian cottage looking out over the boundless Pacific Ocean they believe they have found their dream. But the forces of fascism are not confined to Europe alone.
