The Austrian Social Security Database (ASSD) is a matched firm worker data set and contains individual information from Austrian social security agencies, which are collected by the Hauptverband. The ASSD contains about 10 millions individuals over the time period of 1972 – 2002. The ASSD provides information about individual labor market histories, including daily labor market states and earnings, and a limited set of demographic characteristics. Additionally the ASSD provides some information on the firm level, like geographical location or industry affiliation. This paper is a short description of this huge data base and intended for people using this data in their own empirical work.
