Notes
  • This paper is based on my presentation on the occasion of receiving a Doctor honoris causa (on November 12, 1998) from the University Complutense of Madrid. However, the present paper is an adaptation and considerable extension of that presentation and is not limited to the problem of conditional-normative accounting methodology (as was the original presentation). The paper offers a concise survey of my struggle with some major problems of accounting and philosophy during my academic career. By necessity, it does not enter into a lot of secondary details and subtleties; it rather paints the picture in rough and broad strokes.
