Summary
The Book of Common Prayer contain the words of structured (or liturgical) services of worship, including the complete forms of service for daily and Sunday worship , Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer and the Litany. Traditional English Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian prayer books have borrowed from the Book of Common Prayer, and the marriage and burial rites have found their way into those of other denominations and into the English language. The printer C. (Christopher) Barker was originally a draper who in his middle age turned his attention to printing. With the receipt of a patent as the printer to Queen Elizabeth, he became one of the most powerful and important members of the Company of Stationers, having the sole rights to print the Bible, the Book of Common Prayer, the Statutes of the Realm and all Proclamations. This book forms part of the University of Tasmania Library Special and Rare Collection
