This photo was taken during the final of the Women's 220 yards held on 12 February. It shows the three favorites for the race, drawn in lanes 4, 5 and 6, at a part of the track where some holes in lanes 3, 4, 5 and 6 had been discovered and hastily filled (notice patches in photo) just before the race. See this report under sub-heading "TRACK BROKEN"

The athletes are (l. to r.) Barbara Burke (South Africa - bib 42), Aileen Meagher (Canada - bib 23), and Decima Norman (Australia - bib 9). Norman went on to win the race from fellow Australians Jean Coleman and Eileen Wearne. Meagher and Burke finished 4th and 5th respectively.
