Summary
This should for long remain the standard one-volume edition of Pope's poems. Excluding only the translations of Homer, it is the only edition that can lay claim to completeness and to accuracy of text. It present the corpus of Pope's poetry as printed in the Twickenham edition, except for the 1712 version of The Rape of the Lock and other early versions of phrases preserved in teh critical apparatus of that edition. Pope's own notes on his poems are included, as well as a selection of the annotations in the other volumes of the Twickenham edition. It is therefore a valuable student version of what is recognized as the standard library edition. -- Back cover.
