  • Steven Heathcote recalls his family background, education and early training in Perth; his scholarship with West Australian Ballet; move to Melbourne to join the Australian Ballet School; his early roles in Spartacus, Beyond Twelve, Equus, Romeo and Juliet; the changing directorship of the Australian Ballet Company and their international tours; his guest appearance with American Ballet Theatre; coaching by Gelsey Kirkaland in Cuba; choreographers, Graeme Murphy, Stanton Welch, Natalie Weir and Jiri Kylian; and his own interest in choreography.

  • Steven Heathcote, is the most senior principal dancer for the Australian Ballet.This interview was recorded at the end of his twentieth year as a dancer with the company, fifteen of those years having been as a principal artist.
