BATSON.-Following an illness of

monia, the death occurred at: the Hor
sham Base Hospital at about one
o'clock. on Friday morning of Miss
Mary Batson, a member of the nurs-
ing staff of that institution. Born at
Tarranginnie, via.Nhill 20 1/2 years ago,
and Mrs. W.L. Batson. After leaving
the Tarranginnie State School, she
returned home and two years ago en
tered the Horsham Base Hospital as
a trainee. In her profession she
proved herself an efficient and: popular
nurse, arid her quiet and unassuming
gues and friends alike;. Although lit
tle hope was held for her recovery to
wards the finish quite a gloom was
cast over the hospital when news of
the passing of this esteemed nurse
was known, and many tributes to her
memory were received. Fourteen fel
low nurses formed a guard of honor
at the hospital gates and the re
mains were taken to Nhill, where the
same nurses in full uniform preceded
the coffin to the grave, prior to paying
their last respects. Matron G. Ar
thur and three sisters also attended
and the hospital committee of man
agment was represented by the act
ing secretary Mr. E. France..Apart
from the parents there is a brother
(Ivan). One brother (Leslie) died from
funeral left her late home at Tar
ranginnie and took place at the Nhill
Cemetery on Saturday and was large

Farmers, A. Erwin, G. Erwin and J.
Milne.
