    List
    Public

This 'Trove' list contains items pertaining to Arthur's Seat Homestead at McCrae on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. The property, currently owned by the National Trust, is now known as McCrae Homestead in honour of the McCrae family who first settled there. The homestead is located in the Melbourne suburb of McCrae, Victoria, Australia. The homestead was built in 1844 at the foot of Arthurs Seat, a small mountain near the shores of Port Phillip Bay by Andrew McCrae, a lawyer, and his wife Georgiana Huntly McCrae. The homestead is one of the oldest surviving homesteads in Victoria. Items in this list concern the McCrae family who lived at the homestead from 1844 to 1851 and also the family of Joseph Brooks Burrell who purchased the property from the McCraes in 1851. Members of the Burrell family lived at the homestead until 1925 when Joseph's youngest daughter, Kathrine Burrell, died at the homestead, aged 80. The property was sold on 21 November, 1925.
