on Wednesday, the Parramatta District
Coroner. Mr H Richardson Clark, held an
inquest on the death of an old man
named John McManns. Evidence was to the
effect that the deceased and a man named
Henry Guildford Hardie were in the Railway
Hotel, Lidcombe, when an altercation took
place. They went outside, and deceased
went towards Hardie in a threatening man-
ner and Hardie struck him. The deceased
fell and fractured the base of his skull
dying shortly afterwards. Hardie, who re-
served his defence, was committed to take
Quarter Sessions, on a charge of man-
slaughter. Bail was allowed—self in £100, and two securities in £50 each.
