DIGNAM.—Mr. Martin Dignam, one of the old-
est residents of Walcha district, died in the local
hospital last week, at the age of seventy-three
years. Mr. Dignam had been suffering for some
time, and his end was not unexpected. He was
one ol the hard-working pioneers, of Irish char-
acter and wit, good humored and persevering, who,
like many of the early residents, had to work
hard from his earliest boyhood, when schools
were few and far apart. He had many amusing
stories to tell of the early days.
