"The Sentimental Bloke" made in 1919 had been a very successful silent film adaptation of "Songs of a Sentimental Bloke" by Australian poet C. J. Dennis. In 1932 a "talkie" film version, also called "The Sentimental Bloke", was produced by Frank Thring.
