Associate Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Initiatives, University of Wollongong, since 2008 and is the Initiatives in Social Marketing & Community Engagement Stream Leader. Current research interests include: strategies to reduce cancer risk behaviours among the population, especially in women at a higher risk of breast cancer, strategies to improve health outcomes for asthmatics, changing alcohol consumption behaviours to reduce health risks, social marketing research and development of evidence-based individual behaviour change programs.

Gillian has a PhD and a Bachelor of Biotechnology (Hons 1) from the University of Wollongong and is currently studying for a Master of Public Health through University of Sydney. Her previous experience was in biological research, investigating the mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis. Prior to joining CHI in 2008, she gained significant health promotion and project management experience working in the adult education sector, promoting the health benefits of adult learning. Gillian has been an Associate Research Fellow at CHI since 2008, and is the Stream Leader for Initiatives in Scoail Marketing & Community Engagement. Gillian's research interests include strategies to reduce cancer risk behaviours among the population, strategies to improve health outcomes for asthmatics, changing alcohol consumption behaviours to reduce health risks, social marketing research and development of evidence-based individual behaviour change programs.
