PLAN TO PUT YOUNG MEN ON THE LAND

Kuitpo Colony As Basis, Says Lord Mayor

As a result of his visit to Kuitpo Colony, the Lord Mayor (Mr. Caini last week outlined a scheme which he would like to see adopted to employ a -arge number of young men on the jand. He said Kuitpo was a credit to the founder and all those connected

witn it, and he thought it could be used as a basis for a big practical training ground. 'We are an agricultural State,' he said, 'and secondary industries cannot be established properly because cf natural disabilities. If the Government were approached with a proper scheme and everyone contributed something in money or kind, a permanent solution of the problem of workless young men would be found. There is excellent land available around Echunga and Meadows for development along the lines of Kuitpo Colony.' Mr. Cam will communicate with the Government and all employers to ascertain to what extent they will contribute to the scheme.
