The warden, in his report of the Northern Territory goldfields, states that several hundred Chinese are engaged in surfacing, but generally with poor results. The scarcity of rain has re'-sided the progress of alluvial mining.

The report of the gardener at the experimental nurse..,- at) Fannie Bay states that an exceptionally dry season has interfered with the growth of the plants, but that notwithstanding the

aspects of the sugar, cotton, rice, grass-cloth, and arrowroot is most encouraging.
