South Australian Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1858 - 1889), Monday 28 January 1861, page 2

The Victorian Review.-Under this title a well-conducted weekly paper has recently appeared in Melbourne, devoted primarily to the interests of the Volunteer Force, but including also a special advocacy of the claims of the Civil Service, together witli a prominent reference to Insurance and Banking operations, and a very useful and instructive resume of current litera-ture. It is got up in the style of the Army and Navy Gazette, which in some respects it has taken for its model, having a military editor, and discussing military questions from a more purely professional point of view than could be expected of any ordinary newspaper. The volunteer

movement in South Australia comes in for a considerable share of attention ; in fact, we look upon The Victorian Review as filling up a void previously existing in the periodical press of the Australias, and we heartily wish all success to

our new contemporary.
