HOYTS CAPITOL THEATT^E

Important Changes of Policy.

Mr. S. W. Perry, resident manager ci Hoyts Theatres, Limited, in Western Australia, stated yesterday that the directors nf lii- mmranv intended to make two

important alterations in the policy oi presenting special attractions at Hoyts Capitol Theatre. The first change in policy, he said, would become operative to-morrow, wneii Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's realistic prison epic. 'The Big House,' would have its' premiere instead of on Saturday, as bad been the custom in the past. This arrangement had now been in operation at the company's principal theatres iv the Eastern States, and had proved satis; factory to its patrons. The adoption of Friday premieres here would bring Hoyti Capitol Theatre into line with the llcgent and Plaza Theatres in Sydney anil Melbourne, respectively, and would givr the picture-goers of Perth an opportunity of reading local criticism in both thtmorning and evening newepapers beforeselecting their Saturday night* entertainment. .The The other change of policy, which woulil affect the duration of programmes, Ii.ti been entirely .governed by the large- num-ber of special attractions which had been contracted for for presentation in this State as the directors had found it impossible to continue the fortnightly change of programmes and screen all the productions which had been booked for release. It had been decided, therefore, after 'Tbe Big House' season of two weeks, to make weekly changes.

Although it was incumbent upon uie directors to make this change. Mr. Perry emphasised that the standard of entertainment already introduced by Hoyts Theatres, Limited, would be maintained. us each of the coming attractions at The Capitol had enjoyed extended seasons in New South Wales and Victoria. The first production listed for the weekly change policy would be the First National drama of the air, 'The Dawn Patrol,' featurins Richard Barthelmess. Douglas Fairbanks, jnr., and Neil Hamilton, which would follow 'The Big House' season. Other pictures to be shown would include MerroGoldwyn-Mayer's adaptation of the__stag-? success. 'Let 'Us Be Gay,' starring ''Nprm a Shearer. Rod La Rocque and Sally Eilers: Fox Movietone's 'East Lynne.' casting Ann Hardins. Clive Brook and Conrad N«gel: 'The Man Who Came Back.' pr«~ senting Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell:'A Connecticut Yankee' and 'Idght-nin'.' starring Will Rogers; 'Body and Soul,' featuring Elissa Landi. Charles Farrell and Myrna Loy; 'Just Imagine.' sa:d to be one of the most novel productions ever compiled, casting John Garrick. El Brendel. Maureen O'Sullivan, Marjorie White- and Frank Albertson. Mr. Perry also said that he would make an important announcement with regard to the Regent and Majestic Theatre shortly.
