OBITUARY

: 0: MRS. CHRISTINA ISOBEL ROGERS.

The death in Townsville on 28th February of Mrs. Christina Isobel Rogers came as a s-hock to the community. She took sud denly ill some time ago, and was taken to a specialist in Townsville, but she continued to fail despite medical aid. She was 60 years of age. Deceased was born in Bowen, her parents beinè the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Miller. On leaving school after completing her education in Bowen, she became a teacher, and from 1914 to 1921 taught at the Kelsey Creek State School. In 1921 she married Mr. P. H. 'Rogers, and they took up residence in Prcserpine. During her life in Proserpir.e, Mrs. Rogers was actively associated with the C.W.A., the R.S.L. Women's Auxiliary, the St. Paul's Church of England Ladies' Guild, and more recently a member of the Church Council. She was treasurer of the C.W.A., a position she held for 16 years, and the Women's Auxiliary until her health failed—a period when both organisations were in recess. During the war years she worked hard in the interests of patriotic organisations, raising money for the comforts fund. She maintained her interest in the services until the end, and when men and women of the services attend this years C.W.A. luncheon, they will miss this lady whoj has helped materially to advance the popularity of! the luncheon. She also! took her place, during the war years, in the air observers unit, which wasi used to spot all types of air- craft seen in the area. j Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband and onej son. Bill, another son predeceasing her in 1926. Rev. Brampton (Bowen) officiated at the burial service held in Proserpine on Thursday last week.
