THE TASMANIAN SiLVRR MINING I

COMPANY. '

> Tho ordinary general meeting of the Tas

manían Silvor Mining Company, Limited, waa held on April 19, at the Cannon-street Hotel, and was followed by a special meeting to consider a Rchomo of re-construction. Colono! A. P. Garnutt (the Chairman of the Company) presided. The Secretary (Mr. F, A. Abraham) read tho notice convening the meeting, 'tho report nnd accounts wero taken as read. The Chairman, in tho course of his remarks, »aid :-Gentlemen, I think all who havoread Mr. Provis' report and that of . Mr. Price Williams, will agree with us when ; wo say that theru has bean a considerable

,' amount of work dona during tho past your. Atthe beginning of 181)1 the property consisted I of a bare rush trackon which a fuw prospecting

pits had boon sunk, and a few tranches dug. I Sow', thora is a well-developed, wall laid ¡ out, and wull equipped mino. Of course, it , is always a vory disappointing thing to ask ] people for mouoy, and I fool so especially

because I cannot help remembering that when I last saw you, this time last year, I said I thought we should have sufficient money to carry us through until the mine became self-supporting. Well, I have not

turned out to be right. Turning to the ac-counts, you will see that there is a mention

of a sum due by the Bank of Van Diemen's Land, which is in liquidation. I believe that

two dividends have been paid up to the present time. There is no doubt there will be some delay in getting the balance, but recent advices which we have received do not seem to point to there being any absolute loss. There is a little item in the profit and loss account that you might like to know something about, viz., tho sale of oros, in respect of which the sum of £59 appears as having been rocoived. That does not represent actually what we got for the ore ; it simply means that wo sent about 5'J tuns as a sort of trial to tho smelting works in Sydney and Hobart. Tho oro actually fetched £273, but when wo carno to take off tho tremondous heavy charge of transit and tho smelter's charge, a nott balanco of only S.V3 remained. Mr. Walford having spoken at soma length as to the favourablo condi-tion of the property, Mr. R. J, Lloyd Price seconded the adoption of the report, and the motion was unanimously carried. The meeting was thon made special lar the consideration of the scheme of 10construction. Tho chairman moved resolu-tions formally authorising tho re-con-struction of the company upon tho terms of tho scheme set forth in the notice to shareholders. After a short discussion the motion was put and agreed to nem. con. The proceedings closed with a voto of thanks to the chairman.-European Mail.
