A sensational rumour to the effect that Malvolio has met with an accident sent

him back to-day to 100 to 5 for the Cup, but the rumour proving a canard Malvolio was quickly re-established at 100 to 8. Paris had a similar experience, but also regained his position before the afternoon. Highborn was decidedly easier. Forty Winks hardened considerably. Strathmore was again well backed, and several thousands were booked in favour of Muriel and Prelude. Strath-more has regained his position as favourite for the Derby. The Relief recovered his former position in the market. Yarra was knocked out in the evening. A little wagering took place on the previous night before the Derby, but was devoid of incidents.
