£20,000 GIFT FOR

BOTANIC GARDENS

Miss Maud Gibson, a former resi-dent of Melbourne, now living in California, one of the daughters of the late William Gibson, founder of the firm of Foy and Gibson Pty Ltd, has set apart a fund of approxi-mately £20,000 for the benefit of Melbourne Botanic Gardens. The Ballarat Trustees, Executors, and Agency Co Ltd, of Melbourne, has been appointed the trustee to ad-minister the fund, and is to be guided in its expenditure by the recommendations of a committee consisting of the director of the Botanic Gardens for the time being, the Professor of Botany at the Uni-versity of Melbourne, and three other persons selected by the trustee—Sir Frederick Mann, Mr Russell Grim-wade, and Mr Frederick Grassick.
