BOY DIES FROM SNAKEBITE.

YEA, Tuesday.-A peculiar case of supposed snake-poisoning, which has had a fatal termination, occurred yesterday at Yea. A small boy named Edward Smith, the son of Mr. E. K. Smith, storekeeper. was accompanied by companions, spent yesterday morning in a padock cloes to the Yea River. It is stated that the lad had complained to his companions that a snake had bitten him and some time afterwards he discoverd by Senior-constable Wier lying close to the bridge over the river and was taken to the township sleeping. The bow was taken home and Dr. Oswald Shileds was sent for. He treated the boy for snakebite but some time had apparently elapsed from the time he had been bitten. The unfortunate boy succumbed this morning, and,

from the symptoms after death the doctor had no doubt that it was a case of snakebite. This is the sixth child Mrs. Smith has lost by death and her husband died about 12 months ago.
