Water Shortage in Western Australia
More than half a million gallons of water a week are being rushed by trains to townships in the eastern, northern, and central districts of Western Australia, which are suffer ing from one of the most acute short-ages in history.
The railway dams which in nor mal seasons provide a permanent supply have failed, and huge tanks which, once filled, usually carry an adequate quantity, are at their lowest ever.
