Sir — At a meeting of the committee (with Mr. W. J. Baggaley, B.E., chairman) appointed for the purpose of raising subscriptions for the widow of the late George Bennett, who with his son, aged 14, perished from thirst whilst in search of water for the Macumba station early in December of last year, it was decided to ask you to announce particulars of this very touching case, and to kindly receive subscriptions. The lists will be kept open until August 1, 18S9, when they will be returned to the secretary at head camp,

Wartina. Sirs. Bennett, who lives at the head camp, haB a family ofj six young children ; only one boy is earning a living.
