Christmas Puddings. -0? hon. secretary of the Lady Mayoress' Patriotic League announces that an order for 37,800 Christmas puddings, lib each has been placed with Messrs Swallow and Ariell. These will be despatched during the early part of October to Egypt, where they will be received by Mr H. Budden (the commissioner in Egypt for the Lady Mavoress' League), and will be sent on by him to the men fighting at the Dardanelles. Anyone wishing to co-operate in this scheme may do so by forwarding is 3d to the hon. secretary, Lady Mayoress' Patriotic League, Town Hall. Each pudding will be in a hermetically-sealed tin, and a key to open it will be attached to the tin. In order to bring the donors and recipients.into closer touch, an arrangement has been made that by payment of an extra penny (is 4d in all) a card will be supplied, on which the donor may write his or her name and address, and the key and card will be clamped to the tin. By this means the man in the trenches will know to whom he owes this small portion . of Christmas cheer. People in the country who may wish to send puddings may do so by sending is 4d to the hon. secretary, together with their name and address, which will be fastened to the pudding.
