FOOTBALL.

The match advertised for Saturday last to be played on the Risdon ground, did not come off, Several of the North Hobart and

City players put in an appearance, and after some delay they were informed that they

could have a scratch game, which they did for about half an hour. There were only a few people present, but even from some of them were heard murmurs of discontent at having been induce to come out to see nothing. The SITES. committee has declared

the season closed from the end of the fifth round of matches which took place last Saturday week. This being the Railway hold the, premiership, and next Saturday will play the premier club of the North, at Hobart, to decide the question of supremacy

for all Tasmania.

Union Jack v. Glenorchy, at Glenorchy. This match was played in the presence of about 500 people, and after a hard and wellfought game resulted in a draw, Glenorchy, 4 goals 8 behinds ; Union Jack, 4 goals 3 behinds, Mr. W. Buchanan was fl, Id umpire, and gave every satisfaction. As this makes both clubs equal in number of points it is most likely the association will' arrange another match to decide premiership.

SORELL v. RICHMOND -Mr, J. Costello,

secretary f Sorell Football Club, desires it

stated that in the Sorell v. Richmond football

match, played at Sorell on the 5th inst., Sorell obtained 2 goals 4 behinds not 4 behinds only-against 3 goals 5 behinds of their opponents. The game was not played out, as the Richmond captain

withdrew his men from the field at three-quarter time, under the plea that Sorell was playing with too many men, notwithstanding the assurance of the field umpire to the contrary.
