HEAVY FLOODS IN THE NORTHERN

TERRITORY.

Sir Charles Todd, the Postmaster-General, has received a telegram from the stationmaster at Port Darwin stating that there are heavy floods at Powell's Creek. The rainfall at Alexandria station during January was about 17in., and at Brunette station 15½in. in January and 9½in. in February. Heavy rains fell at Anthony's Lagoon in the first nine days of January, and also in February. The police station and post office at Anthony's Lagoon had 8ft. of water in it, and Loxton's store had 7ft. The flood rose 3ft. higher than any previous floods.
