FOOTBALL.

TO-DAY'S MATCHES.

The ordinary league games are suspended for this afternoon when a twenty chosen from the three leading clubs of Ballarat will meet a league team on the Fitzroy Cricket-ground. The experience of a Melbourne team at Bendigo during the week has not helped the interest in the match, but the Ballarat team are said to play superior football to Bendigo. The following are the players

The association teams -will be engaged to-day, their engagements being as follows:-Williams-town v. Port Melbourne at Port Melbourne ; Rich-mond v. Footscray, at Footscray ; North Melbourne v. Brunswick, at Brunswick.

In connection with the Richmond and Footscray

match, at Footscray, a special train will leave the Flinders-street station at 2.25 pm.
